The aspect of Education for All that we have focused on within our group has been the lack of technological resources for the schools. We have found various articles and pictures showing the hardships these students have to face without the proper resources. For example, some pictures we have found show students who are crammed into a small room with one teacher trying to control a room of rowdy children. Our thinking was to get particular schools that we choose, to donate computers to. This will increase the daily learning in the fact that students will be able to understand aspects of different types of teaching. The students will be engaged and innovative if they feel that people care enough to want to help them, whereas they may feel there is no hope for them to be caught up to the ways of our society nowadays.
We as a group along with trying to dontate computers, we researched groups who try to stop the technology problem in particurly Africa. We have also tried of thinking of some ideas that we can alert the public of these such problems. For example we thought of fund raisers to build up money and aware people of the technological differeneces between are country and others. We also believe that by doing these actions we will like my group member said give hope to the children and let them now people are trying to help. As well we are trying to build a stronger educational field through out the world giving these non-privileged kids something to keep up with the news and actions happening in the world today so they to can study and research and try to help out others just like we are.
Our group has mainly focused on the lack of technology for our education for all project. There are many articles on the internet and in books that have helped us on completing our goal. We have focused on different areas of the world trying to solve and plan out our solution to education for all. For example one of the goals we have is to get computers into various schools all over the world. We feel if we accomplish our goal we can make learing in foreign areas easier, also we can provide these children with internet access so they can communicate with other students around the world.
The aspect of Education for all that we have been studying is based on the Digital Divide, and the lack of technology within schools. The Digital Divide is the separation between two parts of the world. Our society is progressing fast technologically, and other societies are still struggling with different issues. If we keep moving forward, the divide will only become greater. The lack of technology is also another major issue. Technology needs to be apart of education, because then everyone would have the chance to research, be informed on global issues, and so on. The one issue holding both of these together is the lack of enthusiasm to resolve them. People are so worried on smaller issues, but if education for all is supported, then all issues would be solved simply by educating people about them.
I agree with Sonny, but it could even be greater than that. We have been working on, has been based on fundraisers, but to help what? The issues are causing these motivating events, and not only in Africa, but in the areas holding the highest illiteracy rates in the world. He is correct that many of those locations are centered in Africa, but also in Nepal, or varied places globally.
I do agree with Katharine. If donate computers to schools, the students daily learning will ameliorate. Many students are found throughout the world put into a small classroom with only a long bench to write on with thrity other students packed in. Schools globally need so much more help than currently given. even though there are many organizations helping, we still need the individuals who care.
I agree with kit on that if we continue to suceed and we dont pay any attention to other countries then the divide will become to great to fix. But if we do something now then this divide wont increase too much, and we will be able to help these countries. Although i disagree with kit that we cant just give them the technology, we need to help them with it and teach how to use it to it's full potential. And I also think that education isnt the only thing that needs to be fixed, such as the violence in the area. I feel that there are many things we need to work on in other countries and education isnt the onyl one.
I agree with Kit in the fact that the digital divide is taking a major token on the society of underprivileged societies, not only schools. The fact of the matter is, the enhancement of technology is moving at such a quick rate, that if these schools do not receive basic technology, they will have grave difficulty catching up in various ways. I believe that what we are trying to get these adults and adolescents to do is quite marvelous in so many ways; the reason being that these people do not have to do much to make an incredible impact on these students. They are so appreciative and would love the chance to be able to see a tiny point on the spectrum of our access to technology by receiving these computers.
I agree and disagree with kit. I agree that the digital divide is seperating the world apart. I also agree that the more it progresses the farther the speperation continues. I also agree with matt to disagree with kit because there are also many other problems we need to face. Such as we have to teach the children the information and help them learn it instead of just givign tghem things and leavign them wiht nothing.
